John was excited to see Big Brown's offspring! :)

The horses are walked around the paddock prior to going in for auction.

Some potential buyers.
Many buyers would take a closer look at the 100+ horses that were to be auctioned last night.

The last time I was at a Saratoga Yearling Sale was two October's ago!  Right after we got engaged in September 2013 we were looking for a venue and stumbled into the sale while checking out Fasig Tipton!  We were able to sit right down and experience the whole auction!  Later on did we find out that the venue was about $15,000 just to rent for a reception (nothing included - pretty expensive that's for sure)!  That sale even was a quieter vibe as this sale brought in a lot of out of towners due to the already ongoing track season.  Last night we saw about 30 horses of the 100+ that were auctioned off and of the 30 we saw one sold for $950,000!  By the end of the night some of the yearlings were sold for $2.5M!!!!!  It was a great experience and I can't wait to hear about tonight's sales.  If you're in town you should check it out, but make sure to wear your wellies as it's been raining a good portion of today!

  1. I'm not sure I can ever go back to any other place, after an experience like this. This place is appropriate in a space that lends so much gravitas to events. The design of event venue Chicago is sharp and environment is unbelievably good.

    1. It is a really fun event - I hope to go again next year! I'm not as familiar with the Event Venue Chicago, but Fasig-Tipton was a gorgeous venue!
