Graphic Tee

Shirt:  Etsy  |  Blazer:  Mural (similar here)  |  Denim:  Banana Republic  |  Satchel:  Henri Bendel  |  Watch:  Kate Spade  |  Bracelet:  1 (similar here)/2  |  Sunnies:  Ray-Bans  |  Earrings:  Chanel (from Lola)

With work being crazy and John and I not being pulled toward out of town events every other weekend I've been feeling a bit more of a homebody.  We've been staying put for the most part and enjoying exploring the Upstate.  So yes, this tee puts a funny twist on what has occurred as of late.  It says "Sorry I'm late, I'd rather be at home."  I found it on Etsy and there are some other cute graphic tees on there as well.  I love how you can find just about anything on this site!  It's perfect to wear to yoga class or toss on a blazer, jeans and heels and hit up a happy hour!  Definitely a must have for a wardrobe.  Here are a few more fun finds 1/2/3 - perfect for cat lovers!

On a personal note...For the past year or so, my skin has been a huge issue, especially while being pretty much in the limelight of Closets & Corks.  I'm always trying to lighten up the photo for my skin hoping that it will clear it up without being so misleading.  I've tried to handle it with doing more or less of products, cleaning, you name it, but it never seemed to really resolve itself.  I finally went to a dermatologist a few weeks ago and they prescribed a few prescriptions to take care of it.  Nothing too extreme, but so far so good!  It'll take a bit of time to heal and once it does I hope to share my easy makeup routine!  Until next week...enjoy your weekend!

Dress:  asos  |  Necklace:  Loren Hope (another style)  |  Wedges:  Dolce Vita  |  Bag:  GiGi New York  |  Earrings:  Banana Republic  |  Sunnies:  Celine  |  Watch:  Kate Spade

I've finally found the perfect little white dress!  I've been on the hunt for a summer or two and I didn't want to settle.  I have a nice flowy white dress for soft summer days, but I've wanted one for a fun summer party, a romantic dinner at Prime or for a day at the track.  I thought that this was perfect!  It's sweet with a little lace and ladder detailing, but long enough and it gives a bit as you move - so it's definitely perfect for a little heat during the summer.  I'm keeping an eye out to wear this to an event this spring and I hope the weather holds out for it!

Last year I found these and these wedges and I was debating on getting either pair.  I was glad I held out as one was just a little too short and the other was just a little to high because I came across the pair I'm wearing here and I'm so much more happy with them (and the color)!  It's a perfect (and my favorite) color for summer and I can't wait to wear them with summer dresses.

One last thing about this look that's SUPER crucial.  I think I've found my favorite neutral nail color.  There I said it!  But really, while I do love bright colors for summer, I try to keep it neutral for work and all the various outfits I wear I love wearing Essie Peak Show.  I even bring my own bottle to the nail salon so I know it's not mixed and I can retouch at home if need be.  It goes on decently thick for coverage, but not too stark white and still has a pink tinge to it.  I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a great nail color!

Jacket:  TJ Maxx (similar here)  |  Tunic:  asos  |  Leggings:  asos  |  Shoes:  Nike  |  Sunglasses:  Ray-Bans  |  Bag:  Henri Bendel  |  Watch:  Kate Spade  |  Bracelets:  1/2

I may not have all the fancy wear, but I am able to pull together an easy athleisure wear.  At.  Any.  Point.  I love completely vegging out for the weekend, but still looking pulled together.  This look is perfect for running errands, brunch with the girls or weekend road trips with John!  Neutral colors with a pop of any color keep this look very streamlined and versatile for mixing and matching!

blue + white

Sweater:  TJ Maxx (similar here)  |  Blouse:  TJ Maxx (similar here)  |  Denim:  Banana Republic  |  Heels:  Nine West (old - similar here)  |  Bag:  Henri Bendel  |  Watch:  Michael Kors  |  Bracelets:  1/2

I wore this outfit to a shower last weekend.  First or second time I've worn white before Memorial Day, according to John's style guide.  I also think this outfit would have been perfect for Easter or a girls night.  However, the weather has been a bit off and on cool and colder side, but it's soon to be really on warm weather here in least for this weekend.  I've become in love with the French blue and white and I have even spotted a skirt in the similar print to wear as well...just wait until I find a dress!  I've been excited to incorporate lighter colors into my wardrobe.  I love that I'm also able to pull out sandals and espadrilles.  At least I waited until I did my first pedicure!

spring flings

Jacket:  TJ Maxx (similar here)  |  Blouse:  TJ Maxx (love this and this)  |  Denim:  Banana Republic  |  Bag:  Henri Bendel  |  Pumps:  TJ Maxx (similar here)  |  Necklace:  Lola  |  Earrings:  Banana Republic  |  Watch:  Kate Spade  |  Bracelets:  1/2  |  Rings:  1/2

Ta-Da!  Here's the first legit look at the new "do"!

I think I really shocked John with this cut, but I figured why not have a little fling this spring?!  My hair grows so fast he won't even remember!  I'll be back to the lob in a few weeks anyways.  Every now and then I want to go back to growing out my hair and being able to braid it and have long loose curls, but each time I just end up chopping it before it gets to that point.  It's also a big pain to take care of!  I've had fun experimenting with my new cut though!  I figured out how to blow it out; not much different than before, but I definitely can't let it dry too long before drying it.  I've also played around with the various curling iron sizes, which was much more natural for me.  The smaller the barrel the tighter the curl and better the hold (in my case).  The larger the barrel they curl looks more natural, but it is tougher to curl in the back and it tends to fall throughout the day and I definitely want to stay away from the "mom" look.  I might try and combining two of the barrels to give a couple of different textures, especially the underneath area, but also in the back.  As for any fun hairstyles, I'll have to practice on that because I'm only at a low ponytail with a few bobby pins!  [Insert girl primping emoji here.]

street style

Trench:  Banana Republic  |  Denim:  BlankNYC  |  Sweater:  Banana Republic  |  Necklace:  TJ Maxx (similar here)  |  Bracelets:  1-Banana Republic (love this)/2/3 |  Watch:  Daniel Wellington  |  Ring:  David Yurman  |  Kicks:  Nike  |  Sunnies:  Ray-Ban's I found at TJ Maxx on sale (similar here)  |  Earrings:  Banana Republic  Bag:  Kate Spade

I've been kicking around in these Nike's on weekends.  I love that they have a fun print, but are neutral in color so they will last through the trends.  Perfect to thrown on for a Saturday morning class, run errands or catch a game and a drink.  They also come in various colors!

This is my second Kate Spade bag that I found on super sale.  It may happen to be identical to my sister's bag, but it's not like we live close to each other and besides she's moving overseas!  It is a little more of a neon read I feel, but it's pretty darn close!  It's the perfect size to toss your gloss and wallet in and hit the road for some errands.  I mean hey, you need to be able to carry all those large shopping bags, so a satchel would just take up too much room!

Today I head to the hair dresser so either this or possibly one other post will be the last "do" - that is if I fit one last shoot in before my appointment!  I'm not even sure what I plan on having Jaysie create, but I'm looking forward to seeing what she suggests and designs.  She's an amazing hairstylist and I'm so proud to have found someone that I love and trust.  Because believe me, when I was younger I didn't even care about my hair or know anyone who could style it.  But, once you find that stylist, it makes you wonder how you ever lived without them!  I'll try and get a few good pictures of the process for Instagram so follow me @closetsandcorks!

Laptop Bags

Laptop Bags

Kate Spade Floral  |  Tumi  |  Kate Spade Stripe  |  Kate Spade Neon  |  Target  |  Madewell  |  Tory Burch  |  Kate Spade Neutral  |  Kate Spade Pink

Since I've been on the upgrading of my work attire, my desktop was also upgraded to a laptop since I've been jumping around from location to location.  I was searching for the right laptop bag (I didn't want the company one - boring!).  I landed on something similar to the Kate Spade pink tote, only because I wanted to be able to fit files and other information into it when I needed.  It also doubles as a cute gym bag or cute everyday tote when it's not consumed by work! ;)

I also love the Tumi backpack style along with the neutral version of the Kate Spade bag...although I wouldn't want to pay that much for an item to be used here or there for work.

As Rihanna would say..."work work work work work work".

corporate closet

Blazer:  Banana Republic (similar here - LOVE this)  |  Blouse:  Vince Camuto - old (similar here)  |  Pants:  Loft  |  Necklace:  Bauble Bar  |  Bracelets:  1-Banana Republic (love this)/2/3 |  Watch:  Kate Spade (crushing on this also)  Ring:  David Yurman  |  Flats:  Halogen - last year (similar here)  |  Sunnies:  Ray-Ban's I found at TJ Maxx on sale (similar here)  |  Earrings:  Banana Republic  Bag:  Kate Spade

Pretty much has run my life lately, and it seems that it won't let up anytime soon.  It has consumed most of my personal life, workout life and even including my shopping life - ha!  I.E.:  why the blog has suffered a bit in March.  SO, I figured I'd start April off on the right foot!  That and there is always that winter to spring transition that I'm never sure what to wear.  I work in a corporate office and I use corporate loosely because we're an office of about 10 people and our dress code is professional, but here or there we're definitely more relaxed.

A few weeks back I was scheduled to go on a work training trip to NYC, but my trip was cancelled as I was helping and learning a whole knew side of accounting.  [Did I mention that I don't have any background in accounting?!]  I was also scheduled to go on a family trip (trip details later), so learning a bit of that side and handling my own job all while covering at other locations AND a new program was a bit of an overload...that has still to let up a bit.  That trip then turned into another training session in our NYC offices so I was happy to get a second chance to go.  The trips had me thinking of sprucing myself up when it came to my everyday office.  NYC is all about corporate work wear, but I figured I could dust off a few of my work pants (thank God they fit) and add a few fun colors or prints from the spring sales into my closet so I could wear in the Saratoga office from here on out.

Blazers.  Love them.  The one pictured above is from Banana Republic.  The color and length is perfect!  It's a tad stretchy which helps as I feel like my shoulders/chest area never fits right, so this was a great find!  I also size up so I can put a light sweater on underneath on chilly days.  I have currently four blazers and I hope to keep an eye out over the year (and sales) for a nice white and perhaps one in a fun timeless print.  Normally I would have thrown on one of my flowy cardigans, but I can now opt for a blazer which is more dressy, slimming and structured - also very flattering to one's figure.  I think my corporate closet may just add a touch more of success on to my career!
