The dress is so flirty and perfectly cool for the heat that has pretty much been hanging around literally allll this week.  So I paired it with pops of pink!  This outfit didn't come together really until I received my first hand-me-down in years!  The cute bow sandals I received from my cousin, who gave them to her mother, who gave them to my sister who gave them to me as it didn't work for any of them - pretty much a Gold-i-locks moment!  I mean, come on, all of us women have been there where we have a dress, or a pair of shoes or a top and it just doesn't fit right!  So instead of talking ourselves out of the purchase we shove our body part into the item and make it work.  Only to find out that we wear it once or twice and then it just sits and sits in our closet until we end up donating or selling the item.  This moment just made me think of what I can do with items in my closet.  I can share with my friends and family, consign items that aren't their type and then donate the rest.  I mean it really should be a process of deciding what you should do with your unwanted/unfitting items.  Also, friends you can always do the same process to me ;) - it just totally made me miss my time with my girlfriends, roommates and stealing my sister's things!  How would you go about making use of the items in your closet that you tend to skip over?!

I'm obsessed with this gingham scarf I found at a local boutique in Saratoga.  I picked it up on a whim and I'm pretty sure I wore it the whole weekend of the 4th.  Pretty fitting too!  It was the perfect pop of color for my pretty neutral attire.  It's great when one simple accessory just makes the whole outfit.

John and I were out in Skaneateles for an over night.  Skaneateles is my family's home base when we all want to get together each year and visit.  It truly is one of my favorite places in New York.   Saturday the day was too windy and we weren't able to dip our toes in the water, so we popped over to the Lockwood Lavender Farm.  It was just such a gorgeous setting!  We hadn't visited before since we're usually camped out at the house enjoying the sun and water, but it was a great chance to spend 30 minutes to an hour amongst the gardens.  After our short visit, we returned to Saratoga with my sister in tow and filled the rest of our weekend with BBQ's, boating and relaxing.  Pretty much the way a summer weekend should be! :)

Shirt dresses are perfect for work during the summer heat.  I love that they are light and flowy, yet still sophisticated enough to wear to work and out for drinks with coworkers.  This dress is such a great print (I've tried to find some similar ones), but it was a find at TJ's.  It's perfect to pair with any pop of color.  This time I chose a beautiful blue with accessories from Sole Society and Lola (linked above)!  What are your go-to dress style for the summer?  Perhaps a maxi or shift dress?!

A few weeks back I turned 30 and we celebrated in style!   We rented a few campsites on Long Island in Lake George with 10 of our closest friends.  We were able to boat, camp, hang and float away the whole beautiful sunny weekend!  Although we weren't really "roughing it" (besides our beds or lack there of) we were completely well fed (thanks Sean), and of course well supplied with drinks!  Camping on an island has always been on the to-do list so I thought this would be the perfect way to celebrate turning 30 instead of just a usual (surprise) party!  I mean John and I love experiences so it totally fit!  The weekend was just perfect we really hope to do it again next year, not just because I'll be 31 either!  You can see some of the fun on my Instagram @closetsandcorks.  Follow along!
