I recently ordered a few pairs of leggings as mine were just getting holes (thank you thighs) and ratty.  I'm particular about the waistband as I don't want it rolling down or not staying up.  So one that I thought would be awesome, but instead was super weird was the Spanx leggings.  SO.  Weird.  I felt like I was wearing thick tights meshed with Spanx (obvi).  They were just so strange and I would never try on again, even if someone tried to pay me.  Just, no thank you.

I've always been partial to the Loft leggings.  They have a decent band width and minimal shifting.  I also found the Gap leggings to be pretty decent as well.  However, as my newest craze I've fallen in love with Zella.  I have a cropped pair, a long pair and even one in a fun color.  Yes, more of an athletic look, but you can't really tell until you look close.  I would definitely recommend them (even for working out)!

tropical sunset

Dress:  Nordstrom Rack  |  Coat:  J.Crew (similar here and here)  |  Clutch:  Cole Haan (similar here)  |  Heels:  Nine West (similar here)  |  Necklace:  House of Harlow 1960  |

Spring has definitely sprung.  The closets are being swapped out (for the most part) this weekend and I'm looking forward to the lighter layers, brighter color and even some of those dresses.  I realized I consigned a lot of clothes prior to our move and I narrowed my dresses down to only a few basics (mainly summer ones), so I've been on the hunt for work appropriate dresses.  I grabbed this one from The Rack, when I was hunting for a bridesmaid dress (no luck on that end).  I've been gravitating toward A-line, wrap and shift dresses.  I've comes across these few (1/2/3/4/5) that I'll have to order and try on.  I think they'd also look great with a blazer or for a work to happy hour look, a jean jacket.

Sorry for the late shoot on this one, it was originally planned for Sunday afternoon, but a little trip to the ER for John delayed it a smidge!  Don't worry - it ended up being much better than we thought, just a bit of bruising on his face from baseball practice.  I told him he won't be on the blog any time soon! ;)

End of Season Sales:

Snatched up these gloves.  They will be a perfect transition piece, especially for those cold mornings driving to work.

Crushing on this coat.  Would love a great parka to wear next winter so I'm keeping an eye out!

Would love to add these boot warmers to the mix too!  I mean I can just picture it with my yellow or green wellies!  It'll be perfect to {insert any winter activity here}.

I'll have to share what I'm crushing on for spring items next time!

two products

Last weekend I tried two new products; the brow razor and this latex tape.  The brow razor actually worked pretty well and I'd use it again for times that my eyebrows just grow too long and need a little maintenance, but aren't quite ready for a wax.  I would definitely recommend having one packed away in your cosmetic bag especially for those times you can make it in to get your brows done.

The latex tape was a flop.  It's basically like putting a protector on your cuticles but tedious to apply.  At times you catch yourself getting stuck to your other spots when you're not ready to take it off yet.  I wouldn't recommend or try it again - way too much work!

We received a large snowfall yesterday so I'm hoping that today will be a bit slow with getting back into the groove of things or not at all.  I shot this the other week and although I haven't actually been able to wear this to work (thanks freezing cold); I definitely plan on doing it as soon as we get a break in the weather.  It has been nice to pull back out the bright colors and give a break to the usual winter sweaters.  At some point soon I hope to swap out the fall/winter closet with the spring/summer.

One would think that I were to be productive on such a snow day, but unfortunately I didn't even glance at my work computer, work on a house project, or blog (until very late) and even our TV was even having issues with shows to watch.  It was an overall unsuccessful snow day after still being exhausted with a cold and only making it out to shovel 1 of 3 times...maybe 4?  We didn't make the effort to snowshoe any where as it wasn't enjoyable to be outside with some of the windy conditions.  It was nice however to have a little midweek break, but already I'm looking forward to the (healthy) weekend.

This weekend was full of spring vibes despite the cold weather.  I spent about 4 hours at the salon getting another amazing color/cut by Jaysie, the owner of Hair Creations...oh and the perfect curl was courtesy of her as well.  I'll definitely have to re-teach myself how to curl my hair especially when you think you're doing it right, there's a new way of doing it!  I've already been practicing/getting comfortable with the new technique - it may be a little crazy looking at first...  After the salon I popped into BR and picked up a new crisp white blouse and came across this gingham scarf at Talbots.  It'll be perfect as a neck scarf or even looped in a knot on a satchel.  It was the perfect (cold) opportunity to get in a shoot while we both were home (not busy) and the sun was shining.  I'm sure you can tell I'm really looking forward to the longer sunlight hours, especially with next weekend springing forward!  I'll take less sleep and more sun any day!  Maybe then I'll finally get back into working out in the morning again orrrrr just spend more hours sleeping in our new mattress that's arriving this weekend!

I wanted to link a few more things that I'm crushing on from cruising through the stores.  Some are SUPER cuttttte!

Talbots:  Jacket  |  Poncho  |  Shrug

BR:  Tank  |  Jacket  |  Trench 1/2  |  Skirt

Pulling out some of the spring like items (YAY!) even though on this shoot there was a bit of snow on the ground and the weather has turned cold for a day.  It's been nice to bring out pops of color in an overall drab winter wardrobe.  Pairing the crisp white with the cool blues while not over doing it too much.  We have a long way to go before winter is official over, but don't get me wrong, it's been great weather for the most part, but I've already started to see too many summer like outfits that just seem wrong...at least here in upstate.  We'll still be on the cold side this weekend, but I'm glad we're not bogged down on any (real) travels.  Instead we're up to prepping the house, planning dinner parties and meeting friends out on the town.
