hospital bag

Bags:  Kate Spade/Longchamp  |  Nursing Pillow:  My Brest Friend

I had to take another look, but here's what I've prepped for my hospital bag, and I'm hoping I have it covered.

For momma:
I had no idea what to pack, but I wanted it simple, comfy and most likely things that are older for the most part.  I did grab a few new things.  This pj shirt, nursing bras or tanks (not sure which I would want to use or be most comfortable in), robeleggings and my fav sweatshirt that I live in.  I also packed slippers, socks and flip flops.  I'll have my toiletries, but I also packed those fabulous mom things that may help with postpartum (ie: full coverage underwear, pads, diapers - yes diapers and cleaning instruments - WOOF).  Friends told me to pack a water bottle, pillow or neck pillow and a tennis ball or back massager for the contractions.  I also have our battery charged on the good old camera, snacks and a bottle of Veuve to celebrate - don't worry I really don't expect to pop it open that soon!

For the baby:

I've packed the basic onesies and a cozy one for going home.  Those I grabbed at Gap and Target.  I also was gifted a hat and mittens so I brought those just in case.  These are cute and so are these.  The hospital will cover the blanket for the time being, so I did only pack one and a few burp cloths.  My friend made them and they are so cute and adorable!  She has her own shop on Etsy and you can make specialty orders too.  They are so soft and cozy you'll see them with me all the time now!

I packed nail filesclippers as well as a pacifier.  I'm sure I'll be trying out multiple different kinds and adding/removing to the good old diaper bag as the days go on.  I of course have the wipes, diapers, diaper cream and of course nipple cream (YAY!).  I mean who knows I may need to pull over in the 5 minute drive home and not change a diaper, but get some food so I'll need to be prepared.

For daddio:

Let's be honest, John just has to pack like he's going away for a weekend trip, with a little less dinner, drinks and fun.  I guess it'll be more like a work trip... ;)  He'll be fine, stocked with books, podcasts and the laptop!

Are we forgetting anything else!?!  ETA 4 days!

spring floral

Blouse:  Loft  |  Denim:  Gap  |  Trench:  Banana Republic  |  Necklaces:  House of Harlow 1960/Gorjana  |  Hat:  Nordstrom (similar here)  |  Flats:  asos

I actually came across this top the same time I found the other top for the shower.  I wanted to wear this, but my tummy showed a bit.  So, I figured I'd hang on to is as it would be a great post-baby top to hide those lumps and bumps.  It's flowy and sweet and I can't wait to wear it with a pair of jeans too!  I had thought about the very few pregnancy photos I've done already for the blog, but I just couldn't bring myself to do any maternity photos with a professional photographer.  Engagement photos were fun, plus helped me get to know the photographer for our wedding, but I just wasn't interested in pregnancy photos.  I'm not sure if I'm even on board with newborn photos, but I may just bring our camera along to get a few of John and the baby in the hospital room.  I think those would be sweet and more personal.

red + leopard

Top:  Loft  |  Jacket:  similar here  |  Clutch:  old (similar here)  |  Denim:  Gap  |  Flats:  Ivanka Trump (similar here)  |  Necklace:  Bauble Bar old (similar here)

I'm on the hunt for a new pair of leopard flats, preferably with out a heel, but I'm wearing these down to nothing.  They were comfortable from the get, but I've worn the hair off the back of the heels and the tips.  Any other leopard flat suggestions!?

I've totally embraced this extra long long weekend.  John and I took Friday off for his birthday and ended up spending an overnight locally in Saratoga.  The Brentwood Hotel was the perfect little get away and just steps from the track.  It must be so magical during the summer, being able to wake up, have your coffee and sit outside and watch the ponies cross.  It had such a Hudson design vibe, simple, but glam with a vintage twist.  We grabbed dinner Thursday evening and birthday drinks nearby.  The next morning we headed downtown to take care of a few things we never have time to do when working every weekday, but we grabbed brunch at Sweet Mimi's once complete.  It was SO good, I hadn't been in years, but I was happy to go back.  The rest of the day, we just relaxed before heading downtown for John's birthday "happy" hour...which ended at like midnight.  I was legit sober hungover Saturday.  I must have been so tired, that we both recovered all day.  Sunday was a bit more successful in productivity, not that I was trying to be productive.  I actually want to slow down and enjoy the next two weeks project free, but I tackled some meal prep, laundry, cleaning and we even picked out a new dishwasher and started prepping the nursery closet for a closet system.  I really think that's the last bit before we deliver and know if the baby is a boy or a girl (then the real nursery decorating can being)!  I have President's Day off so I plan on relaxing, grabbing lunch with a girlfriend and perhaps a little shopping all before one of my last book clubs before the arrival!  I hope you were able to enjoy the holiday weekend like I have! :)

Sweater:  Gap  |  Leggings:  Gap  |  Bag:  Kate Spade  |  Beanie:  Halogen  |  Sunnies:  Ray-Ban  |  Brogues:  asos  |  Utility Jacket:  TJ Maxx (similar here)

I feel a little like the book "The Mitten" where every critter is stuffed inside the mitten until it busts open, kinda similar to how I stuffed myself inside this raglan sweater praying it won't pop open.  I just really wanted something thick and snuggly and I probably made it into an oversize sweater for months to come.  As usual I love waiting until end of season to snag some items that I don't usually like to pay full price for.  I  grabbed this cashmere beanie again (I have two already) from Nordstrom as they always go on sale at the end of the year.  I didn't happen to cross any arm warmers (is that what they are called?) to pick up this year, but I still have my blue and grey ones!

I'll tell you, although I feel like a bowling ball, I'm not ready for the baby, but I am ready for my body to be my body again and wear normal clothes.  I've already looked at spring/summer dresses and look forward to not wearing the same 5 sweaters.  As for this bowling ball we will not be out for V-day, as we typically stay in and celebrate.  However, I did not come across any fun meals to make together, although we've been cooking a lot of meals throughout the week at home in general!  So we'll just lay low until Thursday!  More details to come...xoxo

floral flounce

Blouse:  Loft  |  Coat:  J.Crew  |  Denim:  Gap Maternity  |  Flats:  Michael Kors  |  Clutch:  (similar here)  |  Earrings:  Lisi Lerch  |  Sunnies:  Ray-Ban

I grabbed this gorgeous blouse a couple of weeks back at Loft to wear for my baby shower my girlfriends threw me.  The shower was such a beautiful, sweet event.  My girlfriends hosted an amazing high tea...with more-so Champagne than tea.  Every detail was beautiful and it made me more relaxed to focus on being with everyone rather than baby games or opening registry gifts.  So we kept everything unwrapped.  It was truly special and more than I could imagine.  I wish I had pictures to shared, but we didn't take any since we were enjoying ourselves so much!

Let me tell you, Loft is sometimes a hit or miss, but right now there are so many cute things there.  I grabbed two more tops, but I'm trying to hold back from getting any others as I don't know what I'll have to make room for post baby.  I'm keeping an eye out for this sweater - I think it'll be perfect for nursing/adjustment period.  I'm not a huge fan of the bell sleeves, but I love the look of this blouse, but will have to hold off as stated before.  The floral and bright prints are on point currently in store and online.
